Call for applications: Candidates for temporary research posts

EU flag The Directorates-General responsible for implementing the Research and Technological Development (RTD) Policy of the Commission of the European Communities are inviting tenders for contracts not exceeding a total of three years for the management of projects and contracts under the Fifth RTD Framework Programme.

Successful applicants will be entered in a data base and may be used to fill any highly specialised vacancies which arise in these Directorates-General between 1999 and 2002.

The general conditions are:
Nationality: Must be a national of one of the European Union's Member States.
Place of employment: All places of employment, often outside the candidate's country of origin.
Knowledge of languages: A thorough knowledge of one official European Union language (Danish, Dutch, English, Finnish, French, German, Greek, Italian, Portuguese, Spanish or Swedish) and a satisfactory knowledge of a second Union language.

Nine Part-time Project Officer posts at BOPCRIS

BOPCRIS: British Official Publications Collaborative Reader Information Service (for key 19th and 20th Century British Government and Parliamentary publications) invites applications for the nine Part-time Project Officer (Content Analyst) posts, one based the Official Publications collections at each of the following institutions:

BOPCRIS is part of the Research Support Libraries Programme (RSLP, see <http://www.rslp.ac.uk/>) and will provide a Web database with details of around 15,000 key British Official Publications, 1833 - 1983. You will be involved with: summarising and subject index key 19th and 20th Century British Government and Parliamentary publications; assisting with quality control of database records and compiling a national directory of British Official Publications collection strengths.

Each post is offered for 17.5 hours per week for two years starting in December 1999. The salary scale will be the first four points of Research Assistant Grade 1A scale: 16,286 - 18,915 p.a. pro rata for part-time. The pattern of hours is negotiable: candidates are asked to indicate their preferred pattern and any particular constraints when they apply.
